"I emphasize that i am full of ambition & hope and of full charm of life. But i can renounce all at the time of need and that is real sacrifice."- Shaheed Bhagat Singh
The only secret to materialise your dreams in life is to begin out early. Passion coupled with a desire to lead can beat the age old belief of unlocking experiences with age. Angad Singh Nawanshahr, is banking on this mantra to become the youngest politician from Punjab to hold office in the Vidhan Sabha.
Angad Singh Nawanshahr hails from a lineage which has dedicated its life in the service of people of Nawanshahr. He did his schooling from Bishop Cotton School, Shimla and Yadavindra Public School, Mohali.
He is the proud grandson of six-time MLA Late S. Dilbag Singh and son of ex-Parliament Secretary Late S. Parkash Singh and current sitting MLA from Nawanshahr Smt. Guriqbal Kaur.
Life has not been a cakewalk for Angad and everything has been a constant struggle for him. Even before he entered adulthood, his father was diagnosed with cancer and he was the sole caretaker of the family. As a teenager, he looked and arranged for, the best medical care for his ailing father. When he was 20, he received another major jolt. His father passed away untimely in November 2010 because of a renal failure.
One thing that was consistent among all this strife was the teachings of his elders that was to serve and make a difference which kept him engaged and dedicated in the local politics with his mother; Sardarni Guriqbal Kaur Babli who is the present MLA of Nawanshahr. She has been a great mentor to him and played the role of a great mentor. At the age of 18, he contested his first election and was elected as the general secretary of District Youth Congress, Nawanshahr. At the age of 21 he became the youth Congress president from Nawanshahr.
Angad is a national level squash player and a national level shooter. He strongly advocates the youth to shun drugs and take up sports. He organised one of the biggest cricket tournaments in Nawanshahr where over 150 teams participated from various districts of Punjab. To further support his cause, he has donated 300 cricket kits to the aspiring cricket players of the district.
He has worked tirelessly for the development of Nawanshahr belt and wishes to work with the well-experienced elders and the tireless and impatient youth.
The best is yet to come, which is only possible once he is at the helm of affairs as the MLA of Nawanshahr.
Angad's family, including his grand father, father and mother have dedicated their lives to serving the people of Nawanshahr. In the hotbed of Punjab elections, Angad is the youngest Turk. Angad understands the problems of the local population and also of those who are settled abroad. He has a well-read mind-set and has a well-travelled experience to countries like USA, UK, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Mozambique, and Tanzania. He is also immensely popular amongst the Indian diaspora of these countries.
